Our Generation That is Lacking Freedom

OKAY GIRLY POPS! Today is a very interesting blog post but I believe that it is needed. So, I love Youtube. I would rather lay in my bed and watch Youtube than go somewhere fun. Youtube is fun. Yes, as you can probably see in the first sentence of this post, I love to watch Haley Pham (this is not a knock against her in any way. She is one of my favorite Youtubers and I love her). The only problem (again, not with her but this generation) is that she is crippled by social anxiety. I feel her and I was her.

This post is not about how Haley Pham and I have/had social anxiety, but it is a wake-up call to a generation that is bathed in it. It is in her bio if you Google her that she has become so famous from being a "relatable teen" with anxiety. This is so sad to me. That teenagers in 2019 watch videos that relate to them with their anxiety (not saying anything against them, I watch Haley Pham because she is hilarious).

Another story, as you guys know, last week I went to Boston. Up there, many people (not just teens) suffer with a mental disorder. I just wrote a paper on this, it was titled, "Be the Inspiration." Guys! My heart hurts for these teenagers. I am looking at some statistics as I write this and these results are crazy! Statistics from adaa.org tell us:

" Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year.....

GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) affects 6.8 million adults, or 3.1% of the U.S. population, yet only 43.2% are receiving treatment....

The leading cause of disability in the U.S. for ages 15 to 44.3. MDD (Major Depression Disorder) affects more than 16.1 million American adults, or about 6.7%of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year....

And, Anxiety disorders affect 25.1% of children between 13 and 18 years old."

This is absolutely unacceptable! These statistics give me a longing, a true, heartfelt desire to see a free generation. Guys, I know what anxiety is like because I used to be crippled by it (mainly social and a little season of depression). BUT GUYS, I know a God who I bigger than our struggles. Anxiety is real and it is rapidly taking over but to is God and He is unleashing a movement that is consuming the World like a wave.

I did not make this post just to tell you all some statistics. I wrote this post to inspire you to be the change. I wrote this post so that you guys with anxiety know you are not alone. I wrote this post so people know there is freedom out there, because in the midst of my struggle, I never thought freedom was reachable. I thought that I would forever have to live being afraid of people and other's opinions. Guys, there is hope.

Philippians 4:6-8 puts it this way,"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

Guys, the enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy your happiness and peace. It took me saying "no," laying down my life, and relying on the Lord to protect me before I could truly enjoy this beautiful blessing called life.

One more thing I ask, if you have been truly set free from anxiety, depression, or anything of the sort, reach out. Reach out to a hurting and desperate generation that needs Jesus. They are crying themselves to sleep, considering suicide, etc. They are lost, and we are the people that leads them to hope, joy, love, and abundance of freedom.

We can make a difference if we just let the Lord guide us, be the inspiration. Onward christian soldiers!
